Question What type of speakers do I put in this Bass Cab?
I have a vintage 1968 Fender Bassman with matching cab. The cab is a 3 x 15. Two of the speakers don't work at all... the first and the third in the the group. I am wanting to replace all three of the speakers because the vintage speakers cannot handle the low end from my bass. I need to get three 15" speakers and when wired they need to be at or above 4Ohms. I can't find any 12Ohm speakers, so I'll have to go with 16Ohm. Does anyone have any clue what type of speakers would be best for handling the low end. I was thinking Eminence Legacy but I have no clue. Any advice?

If it was me, I would get the cheapest, period (in fact I plan on building my own quad-12 cab. and doing just that). BUT... You want low-end, so look at all the frequency response low-ends for each speaker. Pick the lowest, cheapest, 16 Ohm speakers you can find (power rating should not be a problem as it will be split 3 ways). 3 16-Ohm speakers in parallel is 5.33 Ohms, so your Bassman shouldn't have any problems driving the set. .

It's from the '70s, and comes with 3 preamp tubes and 2 power amp tubes. They are vintage Phillip tubes. I play mostly rock, indie, and every once in a while some distorted stuff. Traynor amps are Canadian made, and I'm thinking due to the age, it will have a good classic tone. I think it will also be very collectible. The person is selling it for 0, but it is negotiable. They put and Eminence speaker in it, but are also giving me the standard Marsland one as well. Is this a good investment, both for the music aspect as well as resale.

It is a classic, but remember this, you can buy a brand new Crate, Peavey, Marshall, or a Fender with 0. make sure there is nothing burnt out in that Traynor amp if you buy it. They make great amps, and have been around forever. Steve Miller Band used them .
