Yeah, I found my mums CS-W220 stereo radio cassette recorder by AIWA, (Nowhere as old as the TC-100) and although the recording side no longer works, the other side has very good sound quality.
Oh ya they were sure built to last! And the quality of those old recorders-WOW. Today’s cassette recorders, such as this certain GE one I have. WOW. The new GE units recording quality is HORRIBLE. Weak with lots of extra (DC Bias) backround noise.

You’re right. That TC-100 has very good sound quality, particularly when you consider it’s age. But electronics back then were built to last.
Not sure. I will have to open it again and see. It’s not very easy to put back together once it’s open.
Is a switch possibly oxidized of dirty and not making contact?
I think there’s something wrong with one of the main circuit boards. Maybe the amp is dead or something. There isn’t any visible problems.
What might be bad in the TC-100?
Man! I have A Sony TC-100 tape recorder but I can’t get any sound out of it. It won’t record either.
I like the game the little guy is playing! I’m a Big sonic fan.
Wow, just wow! You have the coolest collection!
Also to note, I have that SL-5000 Sony Betamax. Mine has sync issues, and I think it’s bad electrolytics throughout.
