Question connecting speakers and subs at home?
hey all ive got a set of AIWA sx-e12 speakers that ive had for more than 10 years and when i plug them into the unit that it comes with (aiwa too, not sure what the specs are but its got radio tuner, dual casette, microphone input, equalizer) and then turn it on, there's a very loud static sound, blarring out the speakers. this was years ago. now im taken the speakers apart and they look fine, no fried wires, no damage etc. anyone can help me with putting it back together? as in how to make it work? because its an old but reliable system and its got the vintage touch. thanks all p.s. i dont want to retry and connect it again, coz it will probably have the loud static noise again....
Best Answer Got the OLD volume control knobs or sliders in it?? THOSE create crackling when you haven't used it in years.... But the knobs have little hole in the back you can spray some potentiometer cleaner into.... And if Radio Shack doesn't sell that stuff anymore, you can actually use WD-40 to clean them with... I've done it several times and they come out nice and smooth... Never would have used it unless my boss did...and he does..
