My updated stereo setup which now incorporates a Mac Mini music server and upgraded phono preamp.
Vintage loudspeakers are fantastic. Especially if your hunting for large effectiveness speaker systems, complete selection speaker systems, or Alnico speaker systems. Make sure you confirm the speakers in functioning ailment, given that they are generally pretty tough to fix. If your getting vintage I might not get worried about cabinet blemishes as they shouldn't impact audio. A lot of say that record players provide the best representation of new music. Good turntables and records will actually give back a lot more than you commit on them if you value wonderful audio. It is best to grab these up when you discover them in great situation. If you can get your palms on them, reel to reel players and tape are astounding. Manufacturers to look and feel for are Teac, Pioneer and Sony. They could be cumbersome, big, and hard to move, but they will make up for it when you listen to the large good quality tape they make the most of. Also, try to remember to examine on what kind of harm the vintage unit has previous to casting your bid. Bear in mind that the unit in issue might be 30 years old, so forget concerning the producer getting what you must repair it up! You could purchase some details like lights and knobs from online dealers, however you can assume to pay out a quite penny occasionally more than $10 for a single knob! Also try to remember that points like a defeat up case are tough to fix you may, nevertheless, substitute hardwood conditions very effortlessly, as if you care to shell out the money it is possible to have one particular custom made designed. And often keep in mind to test price ranges. Don’t get taken benefit of by paying out a lot more than the item is worth! Vintage gear is not really rare plenty of to interrupt the lender on, until you just come across something super rare. So, training very good judgment, and don’t dump dollars into something which is just not worthy of it.
Bose Turntable question of the day
Question Can I connect a Soundlab Professional USB Belt Drive Turntable (G056C) to my Bose docking station?
I am going to buy the Soundlab Professional USB Belt Drive Turntable. My Bose docking station has the single plug aux in on the back. Can I connect the two to listen to my records?
Best Answer Yes you can - it has normal red/white RCA outputs. If the Bose sounddock has a 1/8 inch input, you will need an adapter cable: http://imgs.inkfrog.com/pix/extraps/35rca.jpg

Question Is it possible to hook up a pair of Bose 901 speakers to a turntable?
I'm interested in buying a set of Bose 901 (older) speakers as a gift, but the problem is I know nothing about this. Though they will be used for other things as well, is it possible to hook the speakers up to a new turntable? If not, do you have any other recommendations?
Best Answer Well, Roger is right, you'd need an amp: a very powerful one to drive these Bose 901 speakers. Just some facts about these speakers: they are designed with 9 drivers in each cabinet. Each driver (speaker) is made of paper... And all 9 are identical in size: 4". This size is too big to do the job of tweeters: there are no tweeters. Also, 4" paper drivers with their marginal-in-quality iron ferrous magnets causes very much distortion and imbalanced harmonically. These speakers also have no crossover: they are wired in a simple series/parallel circuit which means that all 9 drivers are doing the same thing at all given times. Anyways-- sorta silly design-- Bose knows it's inefficiencies:: so they designed a special equalizer* dedicated for these 901s only. This equalizer is an integral part of these speakers and its ability to produce decent sound: for it is designed to "band-aid-Fix" it's shortcomings: no tweeters,no woofers... So this eq is preset to boost high trebble and lowmids/lowbass. Get the Bose 901 and you'll need a powerful amp and the eq. Without these things... I'd just go with some trusted professional line JBL's and whatever amp you choose. Hope this helps
