There are many audio enthusiasts who would prefer to listen to a pair of vintage loudspeakers or a vacuum tube amplifier built sometime in the 1950s than the so-called micro-processor driven, digital sounding components designed today. Probably one of the best sounding vintage speakers are the Tannoy Berkeleys. Tannoy also made a speaker called the canterbury which was amazing as well. If you can find these at auction I would definately pick up a pair.

The Tannoy Canterbury sets the standard for the reproduction of low frequency performance, dramatic dynamic range and presence. This versatile speaker is best driven by low power single-ended PX4/PX25/Type 10/2A3/300B valve amplifiers. These speakers sound clear and transparent. They are built in high volumes allowing great cost efficiency.
Vintage speakers are great a reproducing the entire sound range while measuring relatively flat. When paired with the right equipment this can provide incredible seperation and placement of vocals and instruments. It produces the kind of sound where if you close your eyes it is difficult to tell that your actually listening to a recording.
