Question Stereo Speakers?
I resently bought a pair of SoundDynamics 10s (made in 1982) stereo speakers but I can't find how many watts max. they are. I think I got a pretty good deal on them too but does anyone know what they are actually worth? I'm sure they put out more than 50w. The speaker box is 25 in. tall and 15 in. wide. Best Answer You should try to find out by contacting them directly (via their website) or a used hi-fi store. You could also search and/or ask one of the audio newsgroups like 'rec.audio.opinion' or 'rec.audio.high-end' or 'rec.audio.marketplace'.

my sony stereo doesnt play CDs anymore for some reason so i have these speakers laying around the house and i dont know what to do with them they are old it has two black and red wires on each one so what should i use them for?

Question How good are BIC America speakers?

Best Answer Bic is not a high quality speaker. If you want high quality speakers look for this name brands: JBL, Infinity, Definitive Technology, Klipsch, Energy, Mirage, Martin Logan, Focal, Tannoy, PBS, Thiel, Boston Acoustics, Revel, Paradigm, B&W, Krell and Sonance to name a few. Some of these brand you will not find in normal retail store like Best Buy or Fry's Electronic. Go online to the manufacturer website and find the nearest dealer close to you. Hope this will help you out.

Question Help with floor speakers? Boston Acoustics/BIC acoustech/Klipsch?
So I went to listen to a few different types of speakers. What would you guys recommend between Boston Acoustics, BIC acoustech, and Klipsch? I liked what I heard with the Boston speakers, with a nice balanced sound. The thing with the Klipsch synergy F-3's is that it seemed the highs were almost a little too bright and I heard that Acoustech are similar to Klipsch. Am I wrong? What speakers would you recommend for overall sound quality, with good highs, mids and lows? Boston Acoustics VR2, Klipsch synergy, or BIC acoustech ht-75, or any other suggestions? I listen to rock music and will use them for home theatre as well. I'm not trying to spend too much.

Best Answer I would also suggest Paradigm Monitor series. I still own a pair of 1988 Paradigm 9SE that lasted 5 years of college and a took beating to The Pixies, Ministry and The Clash. Boston Acoustics has kind of lost their way audio wise, they were great back in the 80's and early 90's. I am sure they still make a good product and it might be just marketing. Klipsch is a quality product, but a unique sound that does not appeal to everyone. Bic is not a brand I have listened too yet. It really comes down to what you prefer sound wise, you really can't go wrong with any of them.

Question How much do you think these speakers are worth?
I have a pair of Lafayette Radio 50w 3-way speakers sk 216W. I was reading that they are the same speaker as the Goodman's triaxiom 612C. They are Vintage 1950's or 60's but in exceptional condition. I guess my question is Would they be worth trading for a pair of Bose or more upscale brand? They are 12" and sound fantastic! So would I be able to get some better sounding speakers than these that I have now for 0.

I'm black and creole.... my dad was creole and he died when I was little so I never really learned creole french.... I'm really interested in learning the language... I have some aunts and uncles who speak it but they never take me seriously because they said that people in my generation don't care about the language anymore... all my dad's brothers and sister are +50 years old...... well my dad was from Lafayette louisiana and I have family in New Orleans, Opelousas, and Rayne.... I just wanna know some basic phrases, words, or sentences.... the only think that I can say is hello and goodbye.... So could any other frenchmens (creoles) out there help me out... just tell me what is the following: how are you doing? what's your name? etc. (just basic stuff) I know a little normal french (from France) and I know how to repeat stuff in creole french....

Question Why wouldn't AR(1) accurately model the autocorrelation structure of the temperature data series?
In a previous question, I inquired about an analysis which used the Cochrane-Orcutt method to estimate the temperature trend from 2001-–2008. I received an answer which stated, "C-o assumes the series is an autoregressive process of order 1. However, ar(1) doesn't properly model the autocorrelation structure of the series..." Why is this so?

Best Answer AR (1) refers to first order auto-correlation - the random error from the previous time period is correlated and predictive of the random error in the current time period. Random error isn't random. Often, their are many patterns of correlation embedded on the environmental data that are driven by physics - especially in meteorological data. AR1 cannot account for this. Take temperature for example. The scale you work at matters. With hourly observations, temperature typically increases during the day, but starts to decrease in the afternoon. Looking at daily mean temperature however, mean temperatures may increase steadily through the spring, for example. Then there are seasonal patterns - temperatures increases through the spring then starts decreasing in the fall. If you plot the data for the whole year using hourly data, you will clearly see many patterns. AR1 doesn't catch these patterns. You also should have stationary data to use most statistical techniques, or your coefficient estimates are very limited to how they can be applied (even more than the usual constraints). To get stationary data, often your need to model these patterns separately and remove their influence before you can proceed with an analysis. For example, if you want to see if CO2 increases temperatures, you have to remove the hourly, seasonal, and yearly patterns (if you have years of data) before you can determine that CO2 is associated with temperature changes. AR1 may be a part of that, but is not the entire ballgame. Lots of times, Fourier transformations and/or higher order auto-regressive techniques and/or differencing are used. This is just for temporal correlation in data. With meteorological data (and lots of other environmental data), you have to deal with temporal and spatial correlation. For example, temperature and the bottom of the mountain may be consistently higher than temps at the top. This is not AR1. This is spatial correlation and a different animal altogether. Modelling all the temporal AND spatial relationships with AR1 is just not possible. AR1 and ARIMA (iterative autoregressive moving average) works well with some data (economics comes to mind) but has to be applied very carefully with environmental data that may include many complex patterns. After all of that, if you are able to model temporal and spatial correlation to estimate temperatures based of CO2 concentrations , for example, you are still using historical data to predict phenomenon that may not have occurred in the past. Your underlying structural equation may not be valid. For example, temperatures have increased in the past, CO2 has increased in the past, but never has CO2 risen before temperature in the past. Temperature increase has always drive CO2 increase. We know temperature increases as earth's orbit around the sun changes - no dispute about that. This is a large part of what causes ice ages. As temperatures increase, more decay occurs and CO2 increases, increasing the greenhouse effect, and further increasing temperatures. This is how it worked in the past. Assuming you could model this statistically, you cannot extrapolate to the current situation. Never in the past has a CO2 increase preceded warming. It is not included your underlying data and not in the structure of the equation you estimate as a result. So a good statistical equation (assuming you can make one that adequately replicates all the temporal and spatial patterns) will likely give very wrong predictions of temperature changes based on CO2 concentrations because of the lagging/leading problem. It might still be useful - the closer the time period to period of the data, the better, but it might not be as accurate as the GCMs. Remember, all models are wrong, but some models are useful. As you know, the GCMs estimate weather every hour for every location on earth at the same time using the laws of physics. The results summarized statistically to estimate climate. The major drivers of all the temporal and spatial patterns are included, and the underlying structural equation can account for lagging/leading differences. That is why these models are used. They are calibrated using empirical data and tested against empirical data. It gets very complicated very fast. This is why it took 20 years to get models that were good enough that scientist would have the confidence to conclude hat human activities have resulted in higher concentrations of atmospheric CO2 and are causing climate changes.

Question Where can I get a pocket amp without a headphone jack?
I need a pocket amp that can play the sound through my guitar without headphones. Or if anyone knows if a pocket headphone amp can do that, that would be great information to know. Ive checked guitar centers website and searched pocket amps but They pretty much all say or show headphones, so i got a little curious. If anyone can help me I'd reallt appreciate it. Thanks, Guy in need of a portable amp

Best Answer Your question doesn't make a lot of sense. You worded it poorly. I assume you want a pocket amp that actually has a speaker, instead of just a headphone jack. What you said makes it sound like you want an amp that can somehow turn your guitar into a speaker (which doesn't make any sense). Anyways, check out the Honeytone amps.
