NAD Amplifier question of the day
Question Can anyone tell me the quality of NAD 208 THX Stereo Power Amplifier, and which pre amp is best?
NAD 106 pre-amplifier , NAD 114 Pre Amp NAD 1240 Pre Amp NAD 1700 Preamplifier
Best Answer The NAD 208 is a excellent home theater amplifier, is built like a tank, is high current and very stable and will drive just about any loudspeaker. It can also be bridged and two of them can be used for even higher output levels if needed. The NAD 106 is stereo only preamplifier. It does have good build quality using metal film resistors and comes with a phonostage. The NAD 114 is also a stereo preamplifier only. It is also well build using good parts and well layed out The NAD 1240 I could not find any real good information on this preamp but does not look likes its in the same class as the other two preamplifier's above. The 1700 is a stereo tuner preamplifier and is not built to the same level as the first two preamplifier's, so the sound quality will not be as good. So if I had to pick on it sounds like the NAD 114 would be the one of choice, if its strictly sound quality. Kevin 40 years high end audio video specialist

Question My NAD C25BEE Amplifier keeps shorting out at low to medium volume....why!?
Hi there. I recently bought a NAD amplifier and im having some problems with it. Basically, if i leave the amp on for more than 20-30 minutes, at anything higher than 1/4 volume it becomes extreemly hot and turns itself off. I am at a loss to why this is happening. I am either running my ipod directly into it, or after someone told me that this can put strain on an Amp I started running the Ipod through a Stanton Mixer, but still the saem problem. The Amp has gone back to the factory and they have said that it is fine. The shop are going to replace with a Denon PMA510AE, which is great, but i dont want this problem to continue! Incidently, this happend already with a Marantz Amp i had, which was subsequently replaced with the NA~D. Could this be because of the speakers/cable or line in? Thanks in advance.
Best Answer If NAD say the amp is OK and you have had the same problem with a Marantz as well, then it's not the amplifier that's the problem. It's either the input side (iPod, or whatever) or the output side (speakers). It will be a problem with your speakers, or your cables or your iPod.
