Question Can you use a Harman/Kardon HK395 subwoofer with different satellite speakers?
I have an HK395 subwoofer, and the satellite speakers it came with are both broken. I want to use a different set of satellite speakers. Do I need to buy Harman/Kardon speakers, or is there a way to use different brands with the subwoofer? I am willing to crack it open, solder, rewire, etc, if you have directions.

Best Answer If you're willing to rewire then you can connect pretty much any satellite speakers you want. Whether they'll actually sound good is a different question though lol.

Question I have a Panasonic Turntable that will turn on but wont spin?
I have a Panasonic se-1510 with a working radio and cassette player but the turntable wont spin, it sounds like the mechanism in the turntable itself is working and spinning but the actual table is not spinning. I also would like to know how to take the turntable off to correct this problem. Thank you :)

Question Can a turntable be hooked up to a Panasonic SC-AK340K Compact Stereo System?
My daughter wants to get her boyfriend a turntable, because he would like to be able to play albums. However he has a Panasonic SC-AK340K Compact Stereo System, which may not be capable of connecting to a turntable as it seems primarily to be a CD player. Does anyone have any knowledge of this system and its capabilities?

Question Does anyone know what cartridge and needle i can use on an Onkyo cp-1036a turntable?

Best Answer All I was able to find on that table was a tiny photo. It looks like a linear tracking turntable that can use any P-mount phono cartridge, but I can't be 100% sure from that tiny photo of the whole turntable. There is still a decent selection of P-mount cartridges available from around .00 and up. A better model with an elliptical stylus would sound clearer but cost a little more than a cheapie with a conical stylus. Any new cartridge will come with a new stylus (needle) and you should be able to find info on what the proper stylus replacement for your new cartridge is when you make your purchase. Might pay to pick up a replacement stylus or two when you can in case they become unavailable later.... A diamond stylus of the quality you'll be looking at should last around 500 hours of play. If you're able to provide a couple digital snapshots including a front and side view of where the cartridge is or where it's supposed to be (they wouldn't have to be great photos, just better than a 1-inch photo of the whole table which is all I could find), I could tell you 100% for sure what cartridges would fit. If you're in the USA, I could recommend a few models depending on what you're looking to spend and a good web retailer or two to buy from. Good luck and Happy Holidays!!! P.S. Another thing that might be helpful... Many stereo and home theater systems today lack an input marked "phono". Only a few systems still come with a "phono" input. If the system you want to plug the turntable into is lacking an input marked "phono", you'll require a separate phono preamp to enable using the turntable with any standard line-level input (CD, DVD, tape, aux, etc...).

Question KLH Model Twenty Replacements Parts?

Question Speakers for my turntable system?
Okay last question I PROMISE. Two of four components have already been bought/shipped/etc. Turntable: Denon DP 300F w/ PHONO [BOUGHT] Cartridge: Denon DL-110 or Audio Technica AT-440MLA (haven't bought yet, going to buy today) Amp: NAD C315BEE [BOUGHT] Speakers: haven't decided yet. The reason why I haven't bought speakers yet is because I've had twenty different recs for speakers, and I honestly have no idea what to do with those twenty recs, haha. My music taste: I don't have a very diverse music taste at all. I probably will NOT ever run jazz, classical, country, or classic rock through my speakers. I'd say around 70% of the bands I listen to fall under the pop rock/pop punk/punk rock spectrum.. Fast-paced (not always but usually), simple riffs, higher mid range vocals, bass. sometimes violin in the case of Yellowcard. Some of these bands are super raw sounding, some of them have really polished production, but they're still pop punk. The remaining 30% consist of bands like Bright Eyes (acoustic folk rock), Brand New (weird mellow rock, I'd call them alternative rock), various indie rock/alternative rock bands, and maybe three or four hardcore bands. I don't want the overall sound to be identical to what I hear on CD's, instead I really want it to have its own --- color, so to speak. I don't have much space in my room, and I definitely won't be able to place the speakers more than 2 feet away from a wall (and even that's really pushing it). I won't play music at excessively loud volumes, since the apartment isn't completely soundproof and I live on the third floor. Recommendations I've gotten that are in my price range (i.e. no Thiel, Vandersteen, etc. even though they're probably really nice speakers) Boston Acoustics A26 Energy CB-20 or CB-10 Polk Monitor 50 Infinity Primus P252 Cambridge Soundworks Model 6 PSB speakers KLH 6 or 17 Advent Large Loudspeaker with walnut cabinets Wharfdale Pacific EVo 30 Wharfdale Diamond 10.1 Wharfdale Diamond 9.6 Pioneer SP-BS41-LR Sony SSF 7000 I'd appreciate any help even narrowing down this list to three or four, because I simply can't work with all of these, haha. Best Answer Get the Vandersteen 1C's new or older models used if you cant spend that much. You can find them used on Audiogon fairly often. Trust me you'll love them, all the others your looking at are low end in comparison. Thiels are good too but the Vandersteens for the type of music you listen to would be a much better choice. You can thank me later Edit: As with all speakers speaker placement makes a huge difference in the overal frequency responce and especially bass responce. Being that they are two way transmission line design will have good bass for a two way, they are easy to drive, do not present a difficult load for the amplifier to drive, just about anything can drive them and they easy to place in a room, so yes they almost the perfect budget loudspeaker. Question where do i connect the belt on a kenwood turntable?
i recently moved, and found my mom's old kenwood KD-26R turntable. i opened it, only to discover the turning base plus the belt were disconnected. how do i fix the belt?

Best Answer The belt goes around the outside of the platter. The other end goes around a small spindle that spins when the turntable is active, even if the platter is not connected. On some turntables, the spindle motor is located underneath the platter, and the belt is connected to an extended surface inside the platter. To get to it, you need to remove the C clip (or E clip) from the center of the platter in order to lift it up from the turntable. Then it's kind of tricky to stretch the belt around both ends while lowering the platter back onto the turntable. Might take a couple times to get the hang of it. Also, it's best to use the proper pliers to remove C clips, otherwise you'll find out why they're also called Jesus clips when it goes flying across the room, and likely never to be found.

Best Answer This turntable was from the late '90s. It's a pretty basic and inexpensive small, plastic automatic. Has a cheap cartridge / conical stylus and it's very similar to the automatics that sell for 0.00 today. Although, today's models tend to include a built-in phono preamp and possibly a USB output. It could probably use a new stylus (which are still available) and belt which would be an added expense for the buyer. So, unfortunately this table would not sell for much. Maybe .00 - .00 or so with a questionable stylus and belt. Maybe -.00 if it had a new belt, stylus, the cosmetic condition was decent with dustcover and the speed was tested to be accurate and adjusted if necessary. There are free strobe discs you can print out for testing speed accuracy here... Use the 60 Hz discs if you're in the USA. http://www.vinylengine.com/strobe-discs.shtml
